Your New Sodded Lawn
1/27/2006
WATERING: Watering your newly sodded lawn will be similar to watering a newly hydroseeded lawn. Your clock has already been set if we laid the sod for you. As with all watering situations the following times are only a starting point. You'll need to adjust them based on weather and soil conditions. For the rotor zones (rotors are typically used in larger lawn areas - they pop up and rotate) - 7-12 minutes three times per day. Spray zones (spray heads are usually in smaller lawn areas - they pop up and do not rotate) should run for about 2-3 minutes three times per day. The key is to keep the sod and soil directly underneath the sod moist.
Depending on weather conditions it should take about 2-3 weeks for your new sod to root in. When the sod roots in you can begin to back the irrigation off a little bit. Eventually you'll want to adjust your clock to run once per day - Rotor Zones 30-40 minutes, Spray Zones 8-12 minutes and Drip 1 hour.
